Popular jailbreak tweak YouTubeToMP3 has been updated! YouTubeToMP3 8.0.6 supports the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and of course iOS 8.
As mentioned before on these pages, YouTube is in fact the most popular website for listening to music. Users can upload their own videos, so artists and fans of artists alike upload their entire discographies up on YouTube. You can probably find more music on YouTube than you can on digital music platforms like iTunes, Spotify, Rdio, Amazon etc.
What people do now is they put on the latest music videos in a background tab, and continue other work in foreground tasks.
This is fine for when you have internet connectivity, but otherwise you do actually want to have access to your favorite music (videos or audios) while you are off the grid.
We have already discussed how to download YouTube videos to iOS camera roll, and how to convert those videos to audio files, but those methods are relatively tedious compared to using an end to end jailbreak tweak like YouTubeToMP3.
YouTubeToMP3 has been covered here before, but back then it only worked on iOS 7. It took several months for the developer to update YouTubeToMP3, but it has finally happened.
Earlier today, YouTubeToMP3 8.0.6 was released on Cydia; it includes support for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus’ larger displays, as well as proper support for iOS 8.
The user experience remains the same, so if you have already used YouTubeToMP3, you will not find anything new. You can search for videos from within the tweak, and then download a ‘high-quality’ MP3 file (as claimed by the developer). Said MP3 file can be played from within YouTubeToMP3, or you can open it up in the stock Music app.
YouTubeToMP3 8.0.6 is available as a free download from Cydia under the BigBoss repo. You can access Cydia after jailbreaking iOS 8.
