YouTube is the most popular website for listening to music, so it makes sense for there to be a convert YouTube video to audio workflow that one can use on iPhone and iPad. We have made our own workflow that does just that! Check it out after the bump.
Note: If you are jailbroken, you can always use a tweak to convert YouTube videos to MP3.
Workflow continues to surprise us with its power at automating processes that would otherwise take multiple, tedious steps across different platforms. So far, we have shown you how to execute reverse image searches from iOS Share menu, and how to download YouTube videos to iOS camera roll. In this post, we will be discussing how to convert those downloaded YouTube videos to audio files, specifically into the M4A format that Apple uses for distributing songs on iTunes.
First things first: this convert YouTube video to audio workflow actually involves two workflows because of the current way that Workflow works. You need to first download the video you want to convert to audio using the download YouTube videos workflow. Then, once the video is in your Camera Roll, you can follow these steps:
- Add our Video to Audio workflow to your Workflow app.
- Open up Photos.app > Videos
- Select the YouTube video you downloaded to your camera roll.
- Tap on Share button > Run Workflow > Convert Video to M4A
That’s it! Now you can use the Open In dialog to select where to open the M4A file in. You can push this audio file to Dropbox, Google Drive, WhatsApp, Documents-style file manager apps, or any app that supports M4A files.
Using these two workflows, you can convert YouTube videos to audio M4A files. We will keep our eyes peeled for a single convert YouTube video to audio workflow. Until then, this is a safe and somewhat reliable way to do it without jailbreak.
