SyFy Channel To Use Alexa
SyFy has become the first entertainment channel to use Amazon’s popular AI assistant, Alexa. The network announced that it will use Alexa to create a more interactive and engaging experience for its viewers.
Alexa, is a voice controlled AI software. Amazon for a long time has been urging third parties to develop products that use Alexa. The company has also encouraged others to customize Alexa in such a way that its skills are useful for interacting with their software.
The entertainment network has customized the skills of Alexa to deliver an innovative and exciting experience to its users.
The SyFy network said, “SyFy is the first entertainment network to launch an Alexa skill, which allows you to interact with Alexa for immediate and exclusive news about SyFy’s shows simply by requesting it.” “For example, you can ask Alexa ‘What happened on the last 12 Monkeys?’ or ‘What happens in the next episode of Hunters?’ and Alexa will answer with the information you’ve requested.”
The SyFy Labs, innovation Labs, and NBC Universal have worked together to bring the skills of Alexa to their TV experience. According to the announcement, users will be able to use Alexa to enjoy behind the scene previews and to get the schedule and episode information. Furthermore, “Easter Eggs” have also been added as part of the SyFy experience. This addition allows users to inquire Alexa about the schedules and information of upcoming sci-fi programs for the next couple of weeks. Users will need to have an Alexa powered device to benefit from these functionalities.
Alexa is the brains behind the Amazon Echo family of devices and has hence gained the interest of other companies as well. Other companies are looking to add Alexa to their family of products. Recently, Invoxia used Alexa’s functionalities to develop portable speakers called Triby. SyFy has now joined the list of companies that are using the skills of Amazon’s AI assistant.
