Undoubtedly you have heard of Instagram, one of the most significant social networking sites of this decade. Instagram is used to share images and videos with the world. With each post, users can publish a caption to describe the content that they’ve posted. Other Instagram users can then interact with the author by commenting on the posts. It’s a fantastic platform, and if you’re not careful, you can lose yourself in mesmerizing images for hours on end.

You’ve liked come across Instagram images and videos that you’d loved so much that you’ve wanted to save them for offline use, maybe to put as a wallpaper on your phone or to post on your poster board. Unfortunately, Instagram doesn’t have a built-in feature that lets you download media off their website. For this, you will need some help from some external sites or apps that have specifically been created to download images and videos off Instagram.

The article set-out below will show you how to save any Instagram image or video to your computer. Follow the steps and start downloading all the Instagram content your heart desires.

Option #1: Download via Instaoffline

For option one we will make use of an online app that was created for the sole purpose of downloading stuff off Instagram. It’s free to use and allows you to download both images and videos from any public Instagram account. Please follow the steps in the right sequence.

Step 1. First, you need to find the video or image that you want to download and copy the media link from the browser’s address bar. You can also get the link to the Instagram post by clicking the three dots in the bottom right corner of the post and selecting “Copy Link”.

Step 2. Head over to the instaoffline official website.

Step 3. Once you’re on the webpage, you will need to paste the link that you copied from the Instagram website into the input field on the homepage. Then click on the download button located next to the field.  The page will reload, and a download link will appear. Click on the download link to start the download process. For me, the file gets saved into my personal downloads folder located at “C:\Users\Gabe\Downloads”. This will be different for every person.

And there you have it, you’ve downloaded the image or video and saved it on your computer. Now you can see the content as often as you’d like and do with it as you please.

Option #2: Using a browser plugin

The first option works great as you don’t need to install any software. If you want to try another method, you can try installing a Google Chrome plugin.

Step 1. Start by heading over to the chrome store and typing in the following search terms, “Downloader for Instagram”. Install the plugin to your chrome browser blue “Add to Chrome” button.

Step 2. Head over Instagram and click on the image or video that you want to download. Once you’re on the image, in my case, you can click on the new icon located in the browser bar which will display the download options for the media.

Step 3. A pop-out panel will play with a preview of the image or video you want to download. Click on the image or video to start the download process.
