The good people at Zazil Media Group asked us to review the Kodak Printomatic Instant Print Camera and so we will take a close look and let you know what we think of it in this post.

Instant Print Cameras

Instant Print cameras may seem like a retro idea but it really has its place in casual photography. A common misconception is that the camera does the printing. In fact, all the image processing magic is in the Kodak Zink Photo Paper. This camera uses 2 X 3 inch (50 X 76 mm)  paper. The camera captures the image and transfers it to this magical paper with good color saturation and clarity.  It also prints in black & white.

The first thing I noticed is that this camera feels solid and well made. This is a hybrid analog/digital camera so the images are saved digitally as JPG files to a Micro SD card (up to 32 gigs), something our old Polaroids couldn’t do.

10 Megapixels

This point and shoot camera will capture images with up to 10 megapixels so this is not a lightweight. The featured image for this article was shot on this camera and it is a very clear and colorful image. The camera also features a built-in flash, an f2.2 aperture, auto-focus, indicators for Low Battery, Print, and Micro SD card.  There is a built-in Lithium Ion battery as well.

Perfect For Events

The Kodak Printomatic Instant Print Camera is perfect for events like weddings, birthdays or graduations. When someone asks you to send them a copy of a picture, just print it out and share it on the spot. No need to add that task to your to-do list. No need to wait between shots either. The Kodak Printomatic Instant Print Camera allows you to shoot while an image is printing.

The cost per print is about $.50 each if you purchase the pack with 20 sheets for about $10. You can also opt for the 50 sheet package for $24.99. This is an advantage over other shoot and print cameras which I understand have a higher cost per print.  The prints are water and tear resistant. As an extra bonus, the prints have an adhesive back.

The retail price for this camera is $69.99 and can be purchased on Amazon.  It comes in Yellow or Grey.

The package includes:

  • The Kodak Printomatic Instant Print Camera
  • USB Cable
  • Quick Start Card

The 20 sheet Kodak Zinc Photo Paper package comes with two packets containing 10 sheets each.

The Eastman Kodak Company has developed an entire line of Instant Print products that include, the KODAK PRINTOMATIC Instant-Print camera, the KODAK Photo Printer Dock, and the Photo Printer Mini Wi-Fi-connected printers.

This camera is definitely worthy of a spot on anyone’s Christmas list. Are you listening Santa?
