How To Use WhatsApp Web On iPhone With WhatsApp Web Enabler

WhatsApp Web Enabler

WhatsApp recently launched a web application for sending and receiving WhatsApp messages from your web browser, instead of using your smartphone. It did not work for iPhone before, but there is now a way to use WhatsApp Web on iPhone with WhatsApp Web Enabler.

WhatsApp Web Enabler

As mentioned before, WhatsApp web was launched a few weeks ago to a lot of buzz on the internet. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the iOS platform, and additionally due to the way WhatsApp is designed, WhatsApp Web was limited to syncing with Android and Windows Phone versions of WhatsApp. The company did say it was working on bringing WhatsApp Web to the iPhone, but since the WhatsApp dev team is known for being very slow with iterating, we honestly do not expect an official solution for a while.

Developed by iMokhles, WhatsApp Web Enabler is an unofficial solution for using WhatsApp Web with iPhone.

Available as a jailbreak tweak on Cydia under the Big Boss repo, WhatsApp Web Enabler adds a ‘WhatsApp web’ button under WhatsApp’s Settings tab, using which you can connect WhatsApp on your iPhone with WhatsApp on the web. You just need to scan a QR code on to get it to work. You can enable / disable the tweak from iOS’ Settings App > WhatsApp Web Enabler.

That is really all that WhatsApp Web Enabler for iOS does. At the moment of typing this blog post, the version of the tweak uploaded on Big Boss repo does not actually work, however the developer has uploaded an updated version (Developer’s Twitter profile) which will be reflected on Big Boss repo shortly. Said updated version is confirmed to be working correctly.

You of course need to be jailbroken to use WhatsApp Web Enabler. You can use TaiG to jailbreak iOS 8 to iOS 8.1.2. Please note that if you have updated to iOS 8.1.3, you can no longer jailbreak your device as Apple patched the exploit that was used by TaiG (Windows) and PP tool (Mac) to jailbreak your iOS device and install Cydia.

Assuming you are jailbroken, you may want to check out OnlineNotify for checking when someone comes online on WhatsApp, and Nuntius for quick reply WhatsApp banners,

If you have updated to iOS 8.1.3, you may at least want to check out the WhatsApp notification center widget.
