Have you ever wanted to download an archive of your Facebook page? If you’re like me and are currently reconsidering your decision to engage interaction with too many people in your life via Facebook or if you are just tired of getting too many Candy Crush requests then perhaps you should store on your computer a backup of all of your Facebook data. You can do this by downloading all the Facebook data in the form of a ZIP file to your computer which will contain the photos, videos and status updates and other Facebook content.
Now you will have a permanent copy of all of the information stored on your Facebook account if you follow our step by step post today. You cannot however individually select the data that you want to download in your Facebook archive and so you will have to download the complete ZIP file.
How to download the Facebook archive:
Step 1: Login to your Facebook account via your Mac and then select “Account Settings” on your Facebook account. You can do so by clicking at the top right of your Facebook page and then selecting “Settings”.
Step 2: Now select “General” in the left-hand column.
Step 3: Now select “Download a copy of your Facebook data” which is located on the bottom of the “General Account Settings” page. Doing so will redirect you to another web page that will ask you to reconfirm if you really want to download your Facebook info.
Step 4: Select the green “Start My Archive” button.
Step 5: Another prompt will now say that “It may take a little while for us to gather your photos, wall posts, messages and other information,” Now click on the blue “Start My Archive” button.
Step 6: Now verify your identity by inputting your Facebook password.
Step 7: You will see a confirmation message and this will tell you that the system is now gathering your information. The dialog box will also say that a message will be sent to your email address when your archive will be available for download. Select “Okay” to close this dialog box.
Step 8: Now you should check your inbox which will contain a message from Facebook asking you to confirm your request for a copy of the data in your account. Now another message will also be sent to you which will contain the download link. Downloading can take a few hours.
Step 9: Now go to “Downloads” on your Mac and open the ZIP archive to unarchive your data.
