How To Create Back-Up And Restore Apple Watch

You can store the settings and data from your Apple Watch as back-up and restore your Watch with the back-up. Almost all phones, tablets and laptops have this feature. It is a good idea to learn how to create back-up and restore Apple Watch so that you are set in case anything goes wrong with your Watch or you decide to get a new one. Restoring a repaired or a new Apple Watch is much easier and will save you considerable trouble.

To automatically back-up your Apple Watch just pair it with an iPhone and the phone will take it from there. When your device is connected with the iPhone it will be automatically be backed-up on the phone in the background. The ‘manual’ version is kind of like forcing the Apple Watch to be backed-up on the iPhone. For an already paired Apple Watch just disconnect it or un-pair it from the companion app on your iPhone and the phone will make a back-up of your Watch before un-pairing. This will reset your Watch to factory settings and it will be wiped clean.

How To Create Back-Up And Restore Apple Watch

Now that you know how to create back-up it is time to talk about how to restore from this back-up.

Step 1: If you have an Apple Watch paired to an iPhone you must first un-pair it.

Step 2: Hold the side button on the Apple Watch to power it on. You will see the Apple logo on the screen followed by the language selection menu.

Step 3: Tap on ‘Start Pairing’ from the companion app on the iPhone as well as on the Apple Watch. (The normal  pairing process). Make sure the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on the iPhone is on and place both devices near each other.

Step 4: After the pairing is complete you will have the option to set up the Watch as a new device or to restore it from a back-up on your phone. In the companion app, tap on ‘Restore from Backup’.

Step 5: Go through the ‘setting up’ steps like Wrist Preference, signing in with Apple ID and accepting Terms and Conditions.

Step 6: When you are done with setting up everything the restoring process on the Apple Watch will start and its duration depends on the size of the back-up.
