iPhone 6 Plus shows contact photos in the Messages app. It’s an exclusive software feature that is – thankfully – no longer an exclusive if you have a jailbroken iOS 8 device! There’s a new jailbreak tweak available that shows contact photos in messages on older iPhones, iPads, and iPod touch devices.

Besides having a larger display, an optically stabilized camera, and a larger battery, Apple added a bunch of exclusive software features to the iPhone 6 Plus to separate it from its ‘little’ brother. The first is an iPad-like landscape mode that gives apps a two-column layout for a more information-dense user interface, and a second small feature-ette is the addition of contact photos in Messages.

It’s basically unacceptable for contact photos to be an ‘exclusive’ feature when it is clear that every iPhone device has enough space for them. This is evident from the fact that apps like Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, etc. all show contact photos in the Chats / Threads view with ease.

You have likely heard by now that iOS 8 has been jailbroken on all iPhones, and iPads. This means you no longer have to deal with Apple’s ‘limitations’ if you do not like them. Just jailbreak your device, install compatible tweaks and apps, and enjoy the dark side, arrrr!

Ahem. Back on topic: ConvoPics is a jailbreak tweak for all jailbroken iOS 8 devices that shows contact photos in Messages app on older iPhones, and all iPads, and iPod touch devices. It is as simple as that.

ConvoPics is available as a free download from under the BigBoss repo. You will of course need to jailbreak your iOS device running iOS 8.0 or later using the recently released ‘Pangu’ tool, so you can launch Cydia, and search for ConvoPics there.

There are no settings or customization options available for adjusting how contact photos look or feel or work. If you no longer want to see contact photos, just uninstall the tweak from Cydia.
