da Vinci Mini
Of course, 3D printing was another hot topic at CES 2016 and if you are thinking like I have, that 3D printing is just too expensive to get into, then think again.
XYZprinting has come to the rescue. As one of the world’s leading 3D printing companies, they unveiled exciting new products at CES aimed at providing a comprehensive line of 3D printing solutions at various price points. This includes one model in particular priced at $269.00, which means even I can afford one. Those targeted for commercial use are of course higher priced but competitive.
The da Vinci Mini is an ultra-small device and is the company’s most affordable 3D printer at $269. Aimed at the consumer market, the da Vinci Mini has a small footprint but it is a versatile 3D printer. It comes with Wi-Fi capabilities and also includes USB ports. This printer is 30% smaller than the 2015 da Vinci Junior but maintains the same build size of 5.9”x 5.9”x5.9”. It is the ultimate, lightweight desktop 3D printer that is portable, easy-to-use and delivers a rewarding experience to its users at a hard to resist the price. The da Vinci Mini is compatible with Windows 7 or above PCs and Mac OS X 10.8 64-bit and above. The da Vinci Mini 3D printer won the CES 2016 Editors’ Choice Award.
The company’s other printers include the da Vinci Junior 1.0 3-in-1: That features scanning capabilities and Wi-Fi connectivity. A laser engraving module is also available as an optional add-on accessory.
The da Vinci Junior 2.0 Mix, which is capable of blending two colors by using a single dual-extruding nozzle that combines two filaments to create a print that gradually changes color.
There are a number of professional 3D printing solutions as well from XYZ Printing that includes the da Vinci 1.0 Pro 3-in-1, Nobel 1.0 Advanced, the Nobel DLP, the 3D JET. They also offer a 3D Pen.
XYZPrinting also offers XYZmaker, which is a 3D modeling app, but it is only available for Windows OS at this time. However, there will be Android and iOS versions available in the second half of 2016. Young designers can edit projects intuitively in the classroom. The XYZmaker app is aimed at making 3D printing technology more accessible and providing a solution and service to expedite the process from design to print. It will be available for download at XYZprtinting.com in Q1 2016.
Their printers come with a one-year no cost warranty, upon online product registration. They also provide tutorials available on YouTube and they provide online and telephone customer service. In addition, there are free design galleries and 3D models available for download from the XYZPrinting website.
The company also offers accessories and other products like those in their XYZlife and XYZrobot lines which we may cover in future articles.
