Are Brick And Mortar Casinos Likely To Go Extinct In The Next 20 Years?

Not too long ago, the idea that brick and mortar, ‘traditional’ casinos could close and never reopen again would have been impossible to consider. Of course, they wouldn’t go extinct; people love gambling, they love to travel to extravagant casinos where the rich and famous go. It’s fun and exciting, and casinos like this will clearly be around forever.

Only now the idea of traditional casinos going extinct may actually be one that seems a little more possible today than ever before. There are a number of reasons for this, and although it’s impossible to say whether they will still be around in 20 years, they will definitely have their work cut out for them.

Online Casinos

One of the biggest problems that traditional casinos have had to deal with is the online casinos, including King Casino, and kasyno online. This was not something that was even considered right at the start, and certainly not in the 1960s when the casinos really started to become well-used and well-loved. However, in the 21st century, the truth is that it is far easier, cheaper, and convenient to play your slots, roulette, poker, craps, blackjack, or anything else come to that online instead of in a brick and mortar casino.

Instead of regularly traveling to a casino, gamblers are much more likely to save this for a treat, a time to get dressed up and go ‘out on the town’. For their quick and easy gaming fix, going online is a much better option – they can do it at any time they want.

Mobile Apps

As if online casinos didn’t make it hard enough for the traditional casinos to keep going well into the future, mobile gaming apps have caused plenty more concerns. Not only are the games that people used to only really be able to play in casinos available in their own homes, but thanks to mobile gaming those same games were available outside the home too – on the daily commute, at lunch, on holiday, in the bath, in bed… no matter where you were or what you were doing, your own personal online casino was just a few swipes away.

The Glitz and Glamour

Something that brick and mortar casinos are famous for is the glitz and glamour that goes with gambling in one. They are extravagant, they are beautiful, they are rich and opulent. They are the kinds of places that the well to do go, and where money feels as though it’s no object.

Again, for the ‘normal’ people of the world, this means that an actual casino is a treat, something to save up for, to go only on special occasions. They’ll stay away until then rather than going all the time.

Plus, this costs the casinos a lot of money. In the past, when many people went there and played and spent money, this was not a problem – profits could be made. Now, with fewer people going, a traditional casino’s very way of working could be its downfall; the cost is just too high.
