The new update of the Notes app allows users to protect their notes with a password. This allows users to store private data or information in the app. This upgrade also allows users to lock and unlock their notes with Touch ID on their iOS. In this tutorial, we will show you how to lock and unlock your data and also how you can access a locked note. This feature is, however, available on only iOS 9.0 and later versions.
How to lock Notes with Password Protection
Step 1: On your iOS device open the Notes app.
Step 2: On the upper right corner of the app you will see the sharing icon. Tap on this icon.
Step 3: Tap on “Lock Note” in the action menu.
Step 4: Now setup a password and a hint for the lock. We recommend that you enable “Use Touch ID”
Step 5: After setting up a password, tap “Done”.
Step 6: To turn on lock, tap on the lock icon at the top of the screen.
The same lock and Touch ID will be used for all notes on the device. Once you have setup the locked file you will not be able to access the data without entering the correct password or Touch ID.
How to Unlock Notes in iOS
To access the locked notes follow the steps below:
Step 1: Open the app on your iOS device.
Step 2: Tap on the note that you want to access.
Step 3: Tap on the view button.
Step 4: Enter the correct password to view the locked contents.
After you have accessed the locked content you can lock it again or you can remove the lock by tapping the “sharing icon” and then “Remove Lock”.
If you have a Mac computer and an iOS device you can access the locked content via iCloud. All you will have to do is update your Mac to the latest version of OS X to access the locked data.
